hobbies to try - list of hobbies - hobbies in their 20s

In this day of age, we are expected to continually work on ourselves, learn a new skill, become a better person and have a laser focus to get sh*t done.

For this reason, staying creative can be challenging, especially when life gets busy.

Integrating fun, interesting and cheap hobbies can help re-ignite that spark.

One hour or even 30 minutes a day is all you need to set aside. With this small amount of time you can do something you love and unleash your creativity.

The added bonus is that many hobbies can be done for free or cheaply. So, you have no excuse but to try out a variety of hobbies!

If you have troubles being productive throughout the day you should read this blog post: 10 Tips For An Insanely Productive Day

Whether you are a hobby finder or want to discover a hobby, this list contains a bunch of hobbies and interests to help cure your boredom.

Blogging

Blogging is one of my hobbies and I love it. It allows you to write what you want and be creative. The best thing about blogging is that it is super easy to set up – you don’t need to be a programmer expert.

If you take a look at my website I don’t restrict myself to a particular topic. A blog doesn’t have to talk about one particular niche, you can write about anything you’d like.

If you want to start a blog I recommend you check out my blog post: Newbie Guide: How To Start A Blog.

I use Bluehost, as I get the ending (.com) in my website name. You can get it for as low as $3.95 a month. It will get you a free domain, a super easy set up for your website and 24/7 support.

Here are some ideas for blog topics:

  • Cooking
  • Personal Finance
  • Travel
  • Language Learning
  • Lifestyle
  • Pregnancy/ Mom Blogs
  • Spreading awareness of a particular topic
  • Home decor
  • Mindfulness and Self-love

Learn how to use Photoshop & Illustrator

I recently bought myself a Wacom Tablet to draw and edit digitally and I absolutely love it. Think of the Wacom Tablet as a big mouse that allows you to draw and use photoshop and illustrator much easier and more creatively than a normal mouse.

You don’t necessarily need a Wacom Tablet to use these programs, even though it is quite cheap. I personally use these programs to draw vector art or touch up photos.

You can even make money out of your hobby. Majority of the stuff I create I upload to websites like Redbubble and sell them as a print, sticker, and shirts amongst other things.

If you want more information on how to make money on this hobby check out my blog post: How To Make Money While You Sleep.

Drawing  & Painting

Drawing & Painting is a relaxing way to unwind and tune out.

Check out this acrylic paint kit which has everything to get you started and create your next masterpiece – be the next Bob Ross!

These drawing essentials are perfect to start drawing straight away, the combinations of charcoals, and different shades of pencils allow you to experiment with or combine different drawing techniques.

I recommend checking out Youtube tutorials if you are stuck on what to draw or paint. Youtube is where I learned a lot about my techniques.

Dog Sitting

Are you a dog lover? Why not get paid and look after adorable dogs at the same time? You can try out dog sitting or walking. The hobby is very flexible so you can pick and choose when you want to look after these cute critters. If you’re super curious about how to start your own dog sitting business, you can make some serious cash and do what you love, patting dogs all day!

Bullet Journaling

As they say, great thinkers journal and I’m sure you’ve heard of bullet journalling by now. It’s a strong trend that is here to stay. So, why not try it out for yourself and unleash your creativity. Grab a blank notebook and start organizing.

There are many resources on the internet including Youtube tutorials and blog posts to help you get started on bullet journaling.

Knitting & Crochet

Not just for the grannies, knitting, and crocheting will allow you to make awesome pieces. Many trendy things can be easily made cheaply by knitting or crochet – so try it out.

Learn a Foreign Language

Learning a foreign language is an awesome hobby to have. Your goal shouldn’t be to reach fluency right away, but it is a great way to train your brain and become smarter.

I am currently learning Swedish as a foreign language and I am so far loving it. It allows you to think from a completely different perspective that you would have never thought was possible.

The beauty of learning a new language is that you can teach yourself in the comfort of your home.

The good thing for you is I have a few blog posts up to help you out:
